Oils work differently than what we are all used to. They need to be used daily so that are bodies can work along side them - it's not a quick fix or a "masking" of symptoms. Here are some facts I wish I had known, oh let's say, 10 years ago.

What are essential oils?

By definition, essential oils are the vital (and aromatic) fluids of a plant, shrub, root, herb, flower, seed or tree. You can think of the oil as a plant's "immune system" -- it is essential to the lifer and health of the plant. Oils are typically extracted through careful steam distillation that ensures all the important, therapeutic, and health-giving constituents of the oil remain intact.

Are essential oils safe?

This method of assisting your body is new to our western culture. But Essential Oils have been used as a powerful tool in health for thousands of years across the globe. In turn, there have been thousands of years of research and wisdom that have come before us. Do research and be sure to find CREDIBLE sources of information that are trustworthy. Opinions are not always reliable sources especially when they're from people you don't know. So to get you started, here are some places to look. There are some great books written by Doctors and Scientists at Life Science Publishing online. They talk about the science, chemistry, safety and usage of essential oils. Also, Young Living has some clear information on their website. This is just scratching the surface.

Is there proof or science behind essential oils?

Plants have been the subject of tremendous research. Often, prescription drugs are based on naturally occurring compounds from plants. Millions of dollars every year are allocated to private lab and universities that are searching for new therapeutic compounds that lie undiscovered in the bark, roots, flowers, and seeds of plants. We have countless testimonies of how essential oils have changed the lives and the health of so many of our team members. But beyond word of mouth, you can read up on the science of herbs and essential oils. Unfortunately, due to compliance we are no longer allowed to link to these resources. We are not even allowed to lead you straight to books and scientific studies in order to give you facts. That’s why it’s frustrating a lot of times to not get a black and white answer from us as distributors. We benefit financially from the sales of essential oils, therefore the FDA has strict rules on what we can and can’t say regarding their power and their proof. But what I can say is “do your research”. Find REPUTABLE sources of information and not opinions of people. Plus when you join a TEAM (ours!) we have compliant webinars and guides and resources that will lead you hand in hand.

Can't I just buy Essential Oils at Whole Foods or Target?

Short answer: No. Essential oils are not regulated therefore companies can put any filler or additive into what they call an “essential oil”. Most of what you will find at the grocery store is either another ingredient altogether or has toxic fillers in it. When you are using essential oils on your body for any reason related to health or skincare, it is very dangerous to use these types of oils and can actually bring more harm. You can have reactions to these types of oils and they can make conditions worse. Young Living has rigorous testing and standards for their oils. No fillers are ever added to Young Living’s oils and no toxins are present. In fact, they don’t even use pesticides or herbicides on their crops or soil so that toxins won't be present. Anything that comes from a farm outside of Young Living’s farms must meet these strict standards as well. You can visit the Young Living farms anytime you want and see their methods of growth and testing. That’s how open they are about their purity. "It’s too overwhelming to use EO."

We have an entire team of leaders and a beautiful community who are here to walk you through the learning process of using essential oils. We have online classes, live workshops, EO guide, facebook groups and more. BUT even if you didn’t have us, you have your bottles! Each bottle has little tabs that you can peel back and read about how to use each oil. It really is that simple! After you sign up for a YL membership, they also have the New Young Living University that goes through the basics of “what are oils”, “how to use oils”, “everyday oils” and more. You don’t have to know EVERYTHING from the beginning. The more you use your starter kit oils, the more you will see what your favorites are and which ones you use the most! I promise the more you use them the more you will become comfortable and before you know it you are an oiling machine!

I don’t want to buy from a MLM Company. They're a scam.

A scam is “a dishonest scheme or fraud”. There is nothing fraudulent about a MLM. Everything about the business structure is forthcoming and honest. When you take a look at their compensation plan, you can see where each of your dollars go. When you are purchasing anything from any MLM, what you are doing is not only supporting the company that made a product, but you’re also supporting your friend. You’re buying local. You’re helping pay for a little girl’s ballet classes, and supper for a family. You’re investing in that little boy’s college fund and school supplies for him. You’re supporting families that you know and so many that you don’t! An MLM uses the costs that a company would normally use for marketing and gives it to families so they can build their own dreams and create a business for themselves. It is so far beyond paying big bucks to top level execs, but gives everyone an opportunity to create an income for themselves! Buying from your friend instead of another random company is the biggest investment into them to say, “I believe in you”.

I don’t want to build a business with oils.

You 100% don’t have to! In fact, 95% of Young Living members don’t build a business. You never have any obligation to build EVER, but the opportunity is always there.

I don’t want to be obligated to order oils every month.

You 100% don’t have to! You can order whenever you want! To keep your membership “current” you need to order once in a 12 month period, that’s all! If you DO find yourself ordering often or ordering large amounts, I do always suggest enrolling in the monthly ordering system only because you save SO much more money that way and earn free points on each order!

The oils are too expensive to use daily.

One 15ML bottle of Lavender has approximately 250-300 drops of oil in it. This bottle costs $23.50. So each drop of Lavender costs between .07 - .09 cents. Once you start using oils, you will see how far one drop goes! You don’t need to use much because the drops are so very concentrated and potent. A bottle of Lemon is $11.25 so each drop is between .0014 and .0017 cents. So if you do the math on each bottle, you’ll see that a few cents is hardly anything compared to how much we can end up spending on some over the counter medicines, skin care products, cleaning agents etc. Plus if I look at how much I have SAVED from this lifestyle change, its truly remarkable.

It’s too expensive to sign up.

Let's break down the cost of the Starter Kit because in the long run, this will save you the MOST money. As distributors this is why we talk about it the most. The YL starter kit is $160 currently. The diffuser alone is between $63 and $85 (depending on which one you choose). If you add up the kit’s oil costs, it comes to $141.
